We live

We live in
transient times
trembling truths
tenuous touches.
and seek serenity!

Liquid

Why do
the words pour
like liquid rain
unbidden
untouched
unquenched ?

Let us Reconstruct

We have Deconstructed enough.

Let us RECONSTRUCT.

Let us Cherish.

Let us Nurture.

Let us Heal.

Wonder

Carbony nights…..

Parched rain.....

and I wonder....

Did you care

because I was wonderful?

or

Was I wonderful

because you cared?

The True Awakening

The elite try and ensure that their world view continues to be the world view of the rest. For this the elite use media, education, laws, mores, customs and culture.

Most of the non elite generally try to join the ranks of the elite by emulating them and trying to move close to them.

Some oppose the current elite to become the new elite and propagate their world view.

A handful, just ignore the whole business.

They create their own world view but share it not. In their hearts and minds lies the true awakening.

World View

The world view of the elite is the world view of the rest.

hole in the heart

what is it like to be born with
a tiny little hole in the heart?
we who are on the outside
can we even begin to know?

what is it like to sit by the side
and watch the other kids play footer
then join in nevertheless
and feel faint after a while?

what is it like to eat bland food
and watch the others hog pizzas and fries,
to watch others hop skip and dance
join in and retire to watch again?

what is it like to go through
endless surgeries, constant checkups,
to suddenly lose consciousness
and be rushed to the hospital?

while we who are on the outside
can just watch helplessly and pray,
pray to all the Gods, all the mortals
please let him be well, let him heal.

The Eyes of Life

They were roaming around to search for the open-air
Like a man finding a temple in him
Or a rat searching for Ganesha’s fair
When light in the routed and tired pairs going dim

They were stuck, trying to make sense
They were shocked to see the raining pair of eyes
When some of the liquid fell on my cheek making it tense
Then she cuddled me as I could feel her sobbing cries

There was another demon of which I was scared
They just closed themselves on seeing the black polished and jagged on top of the lips
No body could pull them but I dared
Then in happiness he smacked me on my hips

They were looking at the swinging world
The lampshade going round and round
And the women surrounding me as if I were an emerald
One of them picking me up and making me float above the ground

The instantaneous innovative images produced behind them
Making the brain go like a magnet
Cotton, fur, jute, hemp
None of these could find the target

They saw a new building
A stranger, a toy, a new object, all seemed exciting
Every day a new crop yielding
In them, there was a new lightening

They were looking for the perfect blend
Pleasure merriment and kindness
All of them I found in a friend
And surely, they were pleased to see him nevertheless

They were looking at the cosmic ocean
Sitting abandoned at the shore
She held my hand and told me to follow the notion
And made me believe you could get the moon stars and more

They are waiting to see more
Waiting fearlessly to face the darkness
Waiting for some one whom I could adore
Waiting to close in divine peacefulness

© N. Sarthak

Sarthak was born with a hole in his heart. I have known him since he was a small child. I have watched him fight against odds that were stacked heavily against him. All through, his parents, his grand parents, his doctors, aunts and uncles have stood by him; strong and unwavering.

The good news is that he has now grown into a fine young person, tall, with a strong pair of shoulders. The doctors say that there is only one more surgery to go, a change of valve after two years and all will be well.

Happy New Year

Dear Folks,

Here’s wishing you a very happy new year!

It will perhaps take years before our planet becomes a planet of light.

In the meanwhile, ‘Good luck living!’

Best Wishes,

worlds

there are worlds where
dwell beings of light.
lucent, lambent
creatures so bright.

no race, no greed,
no hate, no fight.
no shadows, no pain,
no shallows, no fright.

these worlds are there
for us to make.
so let’s join hands
and give ours’ a shape!

Greetings

The date changes and we call it a new year.
let's pray that it really is a new year this time.
And it brings in its wake
food and peace for Africa,
honesty to America
respect for values to Asia
sense of justice to Europe
independent thinking to Australia

and if all this is too much, at least improve lives for millions of children in areas burning with conflict.

otherwise there is nothing happy about it.

NEVERTHELESS

have a good Christmas
and a new year

On Being Human

Alien and Ignoramus

“Ah, Ignoramus, upset again?”

“Yes Al, human beings never cease to amaze me.

As I move through varied spaces I meet people; strong, sensitive, generous, giving and caring. Silently they lend a hand to all those struggling for a breath. Very quietly they help others to take a step, speak a word.

Then I move though spaces of inane chatter, endless similarity, cyclic repetition, mindless imitation, fake images, false egos, me, me, me and mine. Harmless perhaps, if in this endless race for a better symbol they do not harm the others.

And then there are spaces where there is a deliberate attempt to grab, snatch, injure, harm and annihilate others. This could be greed, indifference, bad policy or a concerted malicious intent. Look at India, Africa, and Middle East!

Are these human beings? Do they belong to the same species?”

“Yes Ig they seem to.”

“But Al, how can it be? Why does this happen? Can this negativity not be changed?”

“Ig, you think of the most difficult tasks! Let us think.”

fragile

gold dust
crimson petals
here now
gone forever

evanescent fog
cloud breathes
here now
gone forever

ephemeral time
spins speeds
here now
gone forever

fragile fragile
fragile life
here now
gone forever

then why
the plunder
the strife
the war?

perhaps

the greatest gift
perhaps
is the gift of time.

the time that
listens
like silent dewdrops.

the time that
fathoms
fragile unborn nuances.

the time that
whispers
soothing comforting words.

the time that
just stands by
and says i am there.

easier

it is easier
to give
of our
abundance
unto others
than
to receive.

for
when we
receive
we concede
that we need
the blessings
the abundance.

for
to receive
we have to
scan the skies
open ourselves
to the gentle showers
of Abundant Grace.

but
how can
we give
unless
we receive?

treasures

the gifts of

trust
thought
energy
empathy
time
care
laughter
happiness

that we receive
unquestioned
that we give
unasked.
